traffic. kristen and eric? >> thank you. happening now a san francisco woman is in critical condition with burns to her face after family members say her boyfriend doused her with gasoline and set her on fire. police are searching for the boyfriend, 22-year-old dexter oliver. they were at a laundromat and got in a heated argument. the victim's sister say he came home, poured gasoline in a bottle and headed back to the laundromat. amy will have an update from the hospital in 30 minutes. >> two suspects in the murder of two teen girls in oakland are due in court. the 18-year-old powell faces two counts of murder and possibly the death penalty. and another is charged with accessory. the victims were best friend. the 15-year-old and 16-year-old were found shot several times in east oakland in november. witnesses say there was an argument before the deadly shooting. >> a 16-year-old girl injured in a shooting near a high school at millbrae and san bruno border was shot in the stomach and leg across the street from the high school. it happened at 10:30 on saturday night. police did not say

coverage of the near disaster on the san francisco bay that we first covered on ktvu channel 2 news at noon yesterday. this morning, the u.s. coast guard will meet with the pilot of the oil tanker that sideswiped a tower of the bay bridge. ktvu's alex savidge joins us live with new details about this bar pilot's past. good morning, alex. >> reporter: good morning. a coast guard spokesperson tells me there will be an update on this investigation coming after the team is briefed at 8:00 this morning. we do know that investigators will be sitting down later today and talking with the pilot at the controls of this 750-foot oil tanker when it struck one of the bay bridge towers. he's identified as george close with eight years experience. he did pass an alcohol test yesterday and the results of a drug test may come back today. yesterday's accident yesterday after the vessel was heading back to sea. there was heavy fog in the area at the time. that cut visibility on the bay to just about a quarter mile. this double-hauled vessel struck the wood and barrier that sports the bridge on the western sp
. according to san francisco police, police want you to keep an eye out for this man. he has a special haircut with a fish design on one side and a lightning bolt on the other side. police say oliver used gas from a cancer at the couple's home and he doused his girlfriend with that gas and set her on fire in the middle of street. they identified her as star lamar. her sister said the couple argued quite a bit but this is still hard to comprehend. >> i still want to know why he did this to my sister and that he should turn himself in and my sister will make a full recovery because she is strong and i know she is strong, she has been through so much. >> the victim's sister said the fight began a few blocks away from the couple's home. the woman wanted to leave their clothes there at the lawn matt and the boyfriend did not like that idea. that is when he went home and got the gas. police say at the burn center, she is being treated for life- threatening injuries and right now police continue to search for her boyfriend identified as dexter oliverian he is still on the run after carrying out that

's arturo santiago soins joins us. what now? what changes can be made? >> reporter: the san francisco harbor safety committee, u.s. coast guard and a number of other agencies and experts will now have to not only have to figure out how the overseas raymar hit the bay bridge, you about they also now have to review and improve on their harbor safety plans. after the bridge was hit back in november 2007, the governor ordered agencies to come up with a new plan to keep both the ships and the bay safe. part of what resulted were guidelines for large ships operating in reduced visibility. basically, there are nine so-called critical maneuvering areas in which ships are not allowed to set sail when there's no more than a half mile of visibility. now, according to the watchdog group san francisco bay keeper, there was only a quarter mile of visibility at the bay bridge yesterday morning. officials say that this means this accident exposed a big gap in the san francisco harbor committee's safety plan. >> for example, that shipping channel from the bay bridge to the oakland estuary is definitely cover

his girlfriend on fire in san francisco. police want to find 22-year-old dexter oliver after a young woman was found with severe burns. amy hollyfield joins from the burn center. how is she doing? >> i spoke with two sisters. the family hasn't been in to see her yet this morning but are waiting for more relatives to arrive from sacramento and trying to brace themselves for an afternoon visit here at the hospital. they have been told she can expect to be in the hospital for four to five months. >> we kept talking about it all night. it was hard to go to sleep. >> this has been so tough to deal with she hasn't even been able to bring herself to visit her sister, starr lamare. she was set on fire yesterday and is in the hospital with burns do her face. witnesses, relatives and police believe her boyfriend, dexter oliver, is to blame. this morning, her family was shocked when oliver's grandmother called her mother. >> my mother thought she trusted him and let him survey in -- sty in the house and fed him, why would he do something like that to her baby. she tried to, the grandmother, she

happened to michaela but goes on to say, quote, the feeling i felt was a sense of relief. >>> san francisco police are hoping surveillance video will help them catch a suspected killer. police say this video right here shows a clean-shaven man with long hair walking with 46-year-old alia cruz back in october. that man was seen answering cruz's apartment in the tenderloin district. later that night, officers responded to a report of a disturbance at that same apartment and found cruz stabbed to death. as of now, investigators say there is no motive for this killing. anyone with information regarding the suspect is asked to call police. >>> a bizarre ending to a home invasion in pittsburg. police say the woman, her boyfriend and two others staged a burglary to intimidate the husband and force him to move out. the husband called police tuesday to report a man breaking into his apartment on leland road. then the husband reportedly stabbed and killed the intruder after a fight. it turned out, the intruder was carrying a replica gun. the husband was not hurt and police say he will not be charged.
collins. we've just learned that today's dig in san francisco has turned up something but investigators aren't sure exactly what that something is. right now there's a heavy police presence near the intersection of mesonic and page just south of the panhandle near golden gate park. for the very latest bring in jean elle. what do we know this hour? >> reporter: we now know the san francisco police department dug a hole here and recovered some woen fragments. the focus is the yard right next to that greenhouse. sources say the bones appear to be animal, but the medical examiner is now taking a closer look at those bones. the san francisco police department, the fbi and the alameda county sheriff's department served a search warrant here at 7:00 a.m. related to the kevin collins case. the alameda county sheriff's department says they provide add cadaver dog for the search. construction workers say police dug a hole between two homes, removed some evidence, and then asked the workers to fill that hole in with concrete. kevin collins was 10 years old when he disappeared here. it was february
